Artist spotlight: Var’kusen — Two voices inside the noise

Var’kusen band: Veyl Mercer, Nyx Vane, Kaia Voss, Raze Hollow and Draxen Coil.

Var’kusen combines nu-metal, alternative metal and industrial electronics with groove-heavy rhythms and unsettling atmosphere. At its centre are contrasting male and female voices that can shift the music from intimate to overwhelming.

Veyl Mercer’s rhythmic cleans, whispers and screams meet Kaia Voss’s melodic vocals, synthesizers and programming. Nyx Vane, Raze Hollow and Draxen Coil complete the five-member lineup.

Two voices inside the noise

The project originally operated as Korvus before rebuilding its identity as Var’kusen. That change brought a darker, heavier direction, with the two-voice approach becoming a central part of the sound.

Low-tuned guitars, distorted bass, samples and hybrid percussion form the surrounding world. Explore the artist profile for the band’s story and the release catalogue for entry points including Nothing Remains and Bone Chapel Riot Remixes.
